Which idiot gave it that name anyway? You take a bunch of strangers, send them somewhere they wouldn't be normally, to do things they probably wouldn't do normally (like eating Madagascar hissing cockroaches). They live their days out for the world to see, with a bunch a cameramen following them around who they're supposed to ignore, even though now and then they find themselves flirting with them. Everytime they have sex it's taped in some odd colour like grey or green, so they have their own collection of sex tapes... or rather, the networks (FOX, MTV, etc.) have their sex tapes. They admit on national TV that they're in love with a fellow cast mate, knowing that their fiancee back home will be watching it in a few months. And we call this reality? Reality for Paris Hilton maybe, but not for the 6 billion sane ones of us.
Hey, I wonder if Real World is on now??? :-)

Ok! There are 6 billion sane ppl out there?
Compared to Paris Hilton, yeah, there are.
It's all about the definition. To you, reality TV is showing reality...realistic senarios, etc. To them, it showing people who are unrehearsed (supposedly) trying to adapt to whatever situation they are put in. Most of them are quite pathetic. American idol rocks!!!!!!!!!
Watch 'Behind Reality TV' on VH1 and see exactly what goes on and how all these things are contrived. Conversations edited and then shown to other contestants to start feuds. Everyone getting along stopped selling with the Brady Bunch. Conflict sells. They provide psychiatrists to help them de-stress and then use the info they get from the counsellor to spice up the show and throw in curve balls at potential hair-trigger ppl, all in the name of ratings.
I have been looking for sites like this for a long time. Thank you!
